FAQs

Q?

Why Should I fix my basement?

A.

There are several reasons.  Among the more common reasons are: a healthier living environment, increased living and storage space, avoiding further damage to your belongings, increased property value and peace of mind.

Q?

I am selling my house. Should I fix the problem before I sell it?

A.

Absolutely.  Prior to selling your house, you will be required to fill out a disclosure form.  One of the first few questions asked is if you are aware of any seepage problems in your basement or crawl space.  Leaving the problem for the new owner to fix will typically result in a much lower sales price, as the buyer will generally overstate the cost to fix the problem.  Failure to inform the buyer of any problems can also result in a lawsuit.

Q?

Will I have to sit around all day waiting for an estimator to show up?

A.

No.  After you provide us with your information, our scheduler will set an appointment that is convenient for you with a 1 hour window.

Q?

How much does it cost to waterproof my basement?

A.

Repair costs vary depending on the type of work required.  Injecting a poured concrete wall crack can be repaired for a few hundred dollars.  If you problem is a little more extensive such as up through the floor or where the wall and floor meet, that would require drainage tiles.  America’s Best can do one wall or the entire perimeter costing several thousands of dollars.

Q?

Can I solve my leakage problem myself?

A.

There are several things you can do to help minimize the problem including extending your downspouts and cleaning your gutters on a regular basis.  Most paints and patching materials available at your local hardware are ineffective.  If water leakage continues, we recommend you contact a professional waterproofing contractor such as America’s Best to permanently repair the leakage.
